Does the University of the Philippines have any regular distance programs?

I found some other posts saying that the University of the Philippines Open University has distance programs with affordable tuition. According to Wikipedia's article, open universities have "open-door admissions policies". There are a few programs I am interested in, but since I have a good academic background and can get references and be admitted almost anywhere, I think studying at an open university might appear as a negative on my resume.

Does the UP offer any distance programs directly offered by the UP or one of its campuses, not through their Open University program?

I think your premise that having an "open" university on your resume being negative is just flat out wrong, IMHO. It's about getting out, not getting in.

I fully agree. Not necessarily comparing apples-to-apples; but for instance, The Open University (UK) is certainly highly regarded in both research and academics. For instance: OU The OU Business School holds triple accreditation (AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB) Quality assured business school | Open University Business School and is ranked in the top 15 online MBA programs of national and international business schools by Financial Times Open University MBA ranked amongst best in the world | Open University Business School Business school rankings from the Financial Times - FT.com . Moreover, its undergraduate psychology degrees are accredited by the British Psychological Association (BPS) http://www3.open.ac.uk/media/fullstory.aspx?id=28150; likely considered comparable to APA accreditation in the U.S.

Personally, I would have no apprehension whatsoever with a degree from The Open University (UK) or its open university name.

P.S. My comments are purely in re to the name designation of Open university in general terms AND not as a university reputation equivalent re contrasting the University of the Philippines /University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) with The Open University (UK). However, both universities are legitimately accredited /recognized (e.g., POU via ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) and OU via Royal Charter).
