I don't have any personal experience with them, but I don't think they actually have a program. I know they offer some distance classes, but I don't think you can actually get a degree from them. You can only take individual courses (I think they are offering 5 online classes right now). I wouldn't swear to all this, but I think it is accurate, as per their web site. You might check out Texas Tech. They actually offer a Bachelors degree, totally distance, as well as several Masters degrees. This is their web site http://www.de.ttu.edu/content/asp/start.asp clint
In addition to programs offored by individual campuses (such as the Texas Tech program and the Texas A&M program) the Univeristy system offors some programs see The UT TeleCampus (UTTC) . This is probably what Tina was asking about.
As I remember they do have a DL MBA BUT if I remember correctly you take courses and have it awarded by one the the Universities in the UT system (eg UT El Paso) and not THE University of Texas. Which is too bad since UT Austin is pretty much top tier ranked in any field it offers. North
yes, this is what I thought she was referring to. Actually, Tech and A&M aren't in the UT system. But I went to the UT distance learning site and it didn't seem that they offered a DL degree, only individual courses. Maybe I missed something, so I'm glad you gave a good URL for more accurate info. clint
Yes. I was talking about the UT system. I was just wondering how it was. I did notice that they require proctered exams. Is that very common? It sounds like that might be a little inconvenient. Maybe not though.
Yes, proctored exams are common. Sure it is an inconvenience, but still better to only go once in awhile to take a test than to report to class 3 times a week... What subject or degree are you interested in pursuing? clint
I want to get an MBA. I would prefer to get one with a concentration in Finance, but I guess a general one will do. There aren't too many programs out there with Finance specializations. It looked like U of Texas at Dallas had a Finance specialization. They just don't have the rep of the Austin campus.
Be careful now.... Don't speak too harshly about the non-Austin UT system. I happen to have a BA in English from UT - San Antonio... Well, you are in luck with DL MBAs. I think there about 10 gazillion of them out there. You should look around and find the right MBA with the specialization that you want. Unless you just happen to want a degree from UT. clint
Hey. I'm not putting them down. I'm from Texas, kind of. Born in San Antonio. I just don't know much about the school system but knew that different campuses were ranked differently like Cal State.
I know, I was just trying to be funny. Unfortunately, typing isn't the easiest medium to use when trying to show humor... For sure, UT (Austin) is the most prestigious. I would love to have had my degree from there, just wasn't possible. But they are all good schools. clint
