    Hello All,
    This is my first post...I am in the process of getting acquiring an admission into the PHD program in Conflict Analysis and Resolution at NOVA-Southeastern University. I am interested in hearing any thoughts or assessments of this program. Learning format, Professors due diligence or proactive involvement, Admin. issues, support...basically the good, the bad and the ugly....this is a big step for me and once I start I don't look back...so your opinions will be of value to me...thank you and take care...Travellust76

    Don't know the program but the school in general has a good rep. Personally I've come to like these programs and I'd be happy to get your impression as you move forward.

    I've always thought this was an interesting looking program...but I never could figure out what one does with such a degree.

    Conflict Analysis and Resolution

    Conflict = If there is one
    Analysis = Really Bad?
    Resolution = Just walk away to avoid conflict

    May I have my Ph.D now?

    My idea has been that it's the sort of degree that a diplomat might go for. Maybe someone in a NGO in a political hotspot or even a negotiator for a mega-corporation like an oil company that goes all over the world conducting business with parties who do not always see eye-to-eye. Maybe something like that?

    Professional mediators, negotiators.... careers like that. I took a course as part of my graduate program that really turned me on to the field. We have conflict in almost every interaction, whether minor disagreements to major negotiations, that we have each day. The better each party understands the process the more effective the communication can be.
