I am currently looking for an online PhD program to apply to which incorporates my interests in Film Studies and Psychology. As such, I was referred by a colleague to look into Saybrook University and their PhD in Psychology Program (Specialization in Creativity Studies) and would be very grateful for any feedback from members...

The one thing that I am concerned about is the cost of the program (around $78,000 US) but I was informed by one of their Academic Advisors that they do offer some scholarships...

    Thanks!

I first became aware of Saybrook as a school that offered slightly eccentric Phds through DL. It was the Existential/Humanistic areas of psychology at the time. Since then they've continued in that vein, offering advanced degrees that are just a little bit different than what you're used to seeing. That's their identity and as far as I know, they do it well. In general they have a good reputation and if we don't talk much about Saybrook it's because of the pricetags attached to their degrees. Pricey. The way I think about it is rather simple. If you're going to pay that much money for a degree then you've got to have some substantial assurance that you're going to get all that back (plus a bunch more) in future earnings OR you have to be just sooo passionate about the subject matter that you don't mind losing money on the deal. Personally I like the looks of the Transformative Social Change programs but my personal values would never allow me to put out that kind of green.
