Some may know that The Philosophy Gourmet ranks university Philosophy departments around the world. Their new report came out and I've found this neat visualization. Visualizing Philosophy Rankings
Right you are. Considering that virtually 100% of the schools discussed on this site are "English speaking" this should not shock or dismay anyone. You are, of course, welcome to add any non-English speaking university to the list.
Well, when it comes specifically to philosophy, the school that comes up the most often around here isn't in an English-speaking country, it's Sofia University in Bulgaria because their doctoral program is friendly to foreign distance learners. So it's a fair observation.
Yes, fair enough. But if I remember correctly, the Sofia philosophy program is offered in English, which is why it has become known to us on this board. Clearly there are superlative programs offered across the world and some of them may even be offered in the DL mode but because they are not offered in English we take little notice of them here. Narrow minded perhaps but true nonetheless. If members wanted to begin to take notice of non-English speaking DL programs I don't think there would be any objection. At least not from me.
