Does anyone have any experience with Texas Christian University MLA?

Not sure if it's an MLA or MLS but I am considering it. Does anyone have any information about the program?

I'd greatly appreciate any feedback!

 

I was enrolled in the MLA program at TCU and completed five out of the required ten classes. I really liked the program, it is, in a true sense, a liberal arts degree. You can take a whole bunch of classes (10) and graduate with an MLA degree. The professors were great, and the students for the most part were good as well. The university does a good job in delivering the program. The reason I put it on hold is because under this program it is extremely difficult to get 18 hours in any discipline. And TCU advertises this fact by saying that this is purely a degree for the joy of learning. It does not qualify you to teach anything, maybe, and that is a huge maybe at the middle/high school level. The MLA is a nice degree with very little, if any at all, utility. Also, the other con is the price, it is an extremely pricey program. My Post 9/11 GI Bill was paying for it, however, I wanted to get better use of those tax payer's dollars. However, TCU is a great university, and thanks to their football team, has great name recognition. Although, most people don't know what TCU stands for. I've mentioned Texas Christian University, and people scratch their heads, however, when I say TCU they say "ooh, that TCU!"

If you are purely looking at a liberal arts degree for the fun and utility, there are far cheaper alternatives out there. However, if you still want to go to TCU then by all means do it. It is a nice program, just know what you are getting yourself into. Please PM if you have any more questions about TCU or the program.
