American and British Lit online courses that require no tests? Is that even feasible?

HI! I am currently completing an online M.Ed. through MSU, and in order to get me an English minor credential, I need to take two courses to fix my "deficiencies." These courses are American Literature and English Literature. MSU itself doesn't offer them online, which sucks, but they told me about several colleges that do. The problem is that all of those colleges require tests that need to be proctored on-site, and it's incredible inconvenient for a person who, like me, doesn't have a car and lives very faraway from the nearest proctoring site. Also, that site has a very weird, non-user-friendly schedule for their tests. I am hoping to find online courses that only require the regular weekly essay assignments and the final essay, no matter how hard or complicated it is. I'd rather have that than go through the hassle of proctoring. Anybody knows of any colleges that offer somewhat affordable, accredited Am and Brit Lit online courses that don't require tests? Thanks in advance for all of your help!

Sorry, it's Christmas Eve and most people have other things on their mind. Your best bet is to do a hard search of this site and then get to googling every lead.

Can you clarify what exactly you need? Do you need graduate courses in American/British Literature or undergraduate? You indicated you are completing an MEd so I am a bit confused. Deficiencies indicate to me that they want you have a certain depth of background not necessarily credits. Is there an option to challenge this requirement?

National University may be an option. Another advantage: the courses are shorter than most courses at other schools, so you could finish them quickly.

Proctor-free or exam-free British Literature (non-degree) online courses anywhere?

First of all, thanks in advance for your help. I am currently working on an online M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction in which I am attempting to get a license to teach both Spanish (k-12) and English (5-12). After my college assessed my undergrad transcripts, they told me that in order to confer my English 5-12 licensure, I had to take care of my English "deficiencies," which means that I have to take three additional English courses: American Literature, British Literature, and either The Bible as Literature or Greek Myths and Literature.

I have a really short window of time to finish these three classes —until July 2015; that's the deadline for me to have completed all of the pre-student-teaching requirements. Therefore, I have to get those classes going in addition to continue with my other M.Ed. classes while working as a substitute teacher. Because of all of this, and because I don't have a car to go to the nearest official proctoring site (which is really far), I need to simplify my life in that respect. Not looking for an "easy" class, just a class that will only grade me through essays, no matter how rigorous or "difficult" they are.

I ask here because I have Googled plenty of schools with all kinds of search prompts that combine the words "proctor-free" and "without proctor" with "online classes" and "distance education" in addition to "British Lit, " of course, but nothing comes up that fits my criteria.

I'd love to find something cheap and accredited, but honestly, I'd rather have a course that is not necessarily on the affordable side of things, as long as it is from a regionally accredited institution and doesn't require a proctor (or a test, period). Looking for any kind of British Lit/Survey of British Lit/Intro to British Lit class (I already found the other two classes that I need). I thought that maybe some of you might have seen something like that.

Thanks again for your help, guys and gals!

Here is an undergrad course at Coastline CC

    Will this meet your needs?
I have taken geology courses at CCC and no proctor was required. So check with the college. I liked working with CCC.
