I'm interested in Penn State's MPA degree online. But I am wondering if the MPA degree from World Campus is a program from University Park campus or perhaps from other commonwealth campuses. Will it be not prestigious if I get the MPA not from University Park Campus, or is it equivalent to University Park degree?

Officially, Penn State is divided up into "Colleges" and "Schools" -- not campuses.

It looks like the World Campus MPA is actually issued by the "School of Public Affairs", which is part of "Capital College".
The official diploma will probably say "Pennsylvania State University, Capital College".

Capital College is located at the Penn State Harrisburg campus -- not at the University Park campus.
However, I don't think any of the colleges or schools at University Park offer the MPA degree.

Since the Capital College MPA appears to be the only one offered in the Penn State system, all Penn State MPAs should be equally prestigious.

This is different from the situation with MBA degrees. There are several different MBA-granting colleges in the Penn State system, located at different campuses. However, an MBA from the Smeal College of Business at the University Park campus would be more prestigious than the others.

Thanks Caldog! I still have questions, when you earn your MPA at World Campus, will you write your degree in your resume as a University Park campus since World Campus is based on University Park, or the sponsor college which is in Harrisburg? Is it deceitful if I wrote University Park on my resume?

    Like:

    Master of Public Administration
The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA

    or

    Master of Public Administration
The Pennsylvania State University Harrisburg, Middleton, PA

    TEKMAN Semper Fi!

The university name is on the top, and the school/college name is below the degree name. Here is the sample:

Why not go straight to the horse's mouth and call the World Campus to find out? I'm sure they will let you know which college will issue your degree. That way you will know for sure.

    I got a response from them! Here is the transcript;

    John,

Even though the physical address of World Campus is University Park, they are still considered a separate campus. In addition, since Harrisburg is the home of the MPA major your diploma will indicate that you graduated from the Capital College. Thus, the second option listed below is more appropriate.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.

So Penn State World Campus says:

Which is what Post #2 of this thread said:

The diploma will not have the name of Harrisburg or University Park or World Campus or any other campus.
So on your resume, you would simply state exactly what is on the diploma: "Pennsylvania State University, Capital College".
    It's easy.

If anyone were to ask you where Capital College is located -- and most people probably won't care -- then you would say that it is at the Harrisburg campus.
And the same is true for every other Penn State MPA degree, because there is only one MPA degree program in the Penn State system.
