I have a degree in History, and am a mid-career teacher, but I want to switch careers into the tech industry. Unfortunately, most of the graduate degrees I'm looking at require lots more math than was required for my original BA. I found Straighterline, and one called CALcampus.edu. both offer math on demand, but I'm just not sure if they are taken seriously. Has anyone has success with these places? does anyone know a RA school that offers distance proctorU type classes that can be taken on demand that will actually count?
On demand for Math, no. But term based, cheap, and using ProctorU, you can try Clovis CC. Online Courses @ CCC Or if you just want to get your math requirements out of the way, University of North Dakota has self pace classes, but you will need physical proctoring. The "on demand" maths present challenges for traditional students. Typically, they'll be pass/fail and are only ACE evaluated. This isn't a problem if you're meeting a degree requirement at a school that allows ACE credit, but to meet a pre-req, get into grad school, meet a GPA requirement, or simply send a transcript; Straighterline and ALEKS might not be the best fit. I second the suggestion to look at Clovis, but I also suggest you look at your own local community college. I'm 99% certain that your local school will offer all the math you need both in person and at a distance.
