You need to be more specific. In social sciences you should operationally define your variables. Rate them using...Satisfaction level; cost; flexibility; rigor; etc.?

Funny you should ask this question. First off, before embarking on my distance PhD, I did my two master's and one bachelor's degree in the traditional butt-in-chair style. So, I had enough of the traditional model. I'm also a middle-aged working professional. My response? I love the distance learning format. In fact, I question whether it is in fact distance? Although I have to travel to Spain a couple times, I'm in contact with my professors via email and Academic.edu. I'm in contact with my school colleagues through a Whatsapp and Skype on my phone. Distance learning? Really? I don't see the difference. Now here are some caveats:

    1) My field is primarily philosophy
    2) I have a pretty darn good setup for research. I have access to nearly all academic databases.
    3) I can afford to buy a lot of my specialized texts.
    4) My iphone rocks! It's a research beast! I find myself constantly doing research on it and I can't wait to get the iphone 6 plus that has the bigger screen. (By the way, I was going to get the Galaxy 5 but Apple pulled the rug out from under them with the 6+.)
    5) I can study, review lectures, read, write wherever and whenever.

Yep. I'm loving distance learning! (Did I already say that??)

    Rating: Distance Learning = top score = 10 ; Traditional = 8.

Oh, I don't honestly know. Sometimes these oddly worded questions are that, but not necessarily. I was really just trying to be funny.
