I know some students (not living in the US) who need to get food handling training. Their home countries do not offer that training. I found some on-line programs, such as at Colorado State University, but it is expensive. Is there any place to get that on-line? A certificate is nice, but not required, as the knowledge is most important.
Here are a few. Online Certificate in Food Safety - CSU Online Plus Part Time Food Service Worker Continuing Education Program & Courses | Ontario | Conestoga College Food Safety Education & Training - NC State UniversityFood Safety Education and Training
If the operative word is FREE the USDA has some free information.... Safe Food Handling Fact Sheets There is also: Home | FoodSafety.gov However, neither of these are actual educational programs. But the information is FREE.
ServeSafe, it's the only one to bother with. ServSafe® Food Handler, Manager and Responsible Alcohol Training - ServSafe® Handler cert is cheap, around $35. Manager is more, but handler is the minimum state requirement (where requirements are enforced) across the USA.
