I am sure that this is in another thread somewhere on this site, and I apologize for the duplicate if that is the case!

I currently hold a M. Div from Emmanuel Christian Seminary (Christian Church/Church of Christ denomination). I am preaching at a small local congregation and recently began as an adjunct at a local college.

In the past few weeks I have had several people encourage me, saying they always saw me as a professor. I would like to get a PhD/ThD to be able to further that side of my career.

I would love to be able to interact in academia but do not envision myself as part of a scholarly guild or rising to teach at Harvard or Princeton. Since I want to stay in the church ministry while I pursue this degree, distance learning is the way to go.

I am very attracted to the modular programs at SBTS, but as a non-baptist that school is pricey. I found that Southeastern Baptist TS is a little cheaper, and Midwest BTS is cheaper still and I have family in Kansas City. I'm wondering if someone has knowledge about comparing the various BTSs in terms of reputation and acceptance at the kind of schools I would want to work at.

In addition, how would these compare to a school like UNISA? I like some of what I see there but am afraid of a diploma mill reputation and I feel like I would benefit from actual coursework.

Thanks for any advice or suggestions. Grace and peace.
