  1. OK, so I finally read the report, which is based on a government survey of 40 universities (23 of which offer online programs). A few interesting factoids:
    • 207 fully online programs (degrees, diplomas, certificates) are offered.
    • 187 of these are postgraduate programs.
    • Of the postgrad programs, 52 are in management, 31 are in education, 29 are in health-related fields, and 19 are in IT.
    • 31% of the 207 fully online programs are offered only online.

Overall a significant presence by Australia in the world of DL. I really enjoyed my experience at the University of Western Sydney and the price per course is good -- roughly $500.00 (US) per course.

Be sure that the course is fully DL

One point to be noted that does not appear in the article, is that there is NO guarantee that a who degree may be available online, or even by DL.

Murdoch university has been advertising courses as DE/DL but when it come sto talking to the actual faculties, one may agree to DE research and another may not. This is despite the fact that the Research school sets the rules - the faculties then do it their way at time.

So be very CAREFUL, or you could ultimately end up with a degree that you will never complete unless you attend campus - and I have no more idea of travelling to Perth that most other people on this group.

I will still stick with UNE and have enrolled to do the MA in history - liberal education for the hell of it
