I'm surprised UC Berkley (Haas School of Business) didn't make the list.

These are always interesting. Was it the 'top quality education' or is a Harvard MBA merely proxy for other things (non-academic) that have more to do with becoming a Fortune 500 CEO?

No doubt some good work goes on at top schools, but I still believe at the graduate level top-rated biz degrees have much to do with SES, connections, and ability to pay than almost anywhere else. Perhaps a public credentialing process for those waiting in the wings, already groomed for the position.

Now that being said, there are some bootstrappers who fight it out more democratically in the investment banking world, but even those positions aren't available to everybody. Good luck finding a low SES or non-white face in an entry level job on Wall Street. Those are closed but 'open' jobs for most.

No doubt the education and resources at top schools are good. They just ain't democratic. If you're either interested or offended, read up on the 'unpaid internship debate.' Many lucrative positions are open in name only.

So you're telling me that my PhD from Penn Foster wouldn't make the list because I lack the SEC connections on Wall Street . . . . Nonsense!

Haha no YOURS would be fine! It's everyone else's that's the problem! :)

I do think that many folks believe the 'best and brightest' become CEO's. While bright may be true, best is another animal.
