    Hello all,

I am looking for a cheap (tuition) program from a college/university that will offer disciplines in Engineering.

I have been looking at UNISA for about a year, but the reviews, lack of communication and location scared me away.

With that being, said does anyone alternative Universities that can offer these traits?

Perhaps, Indian or elsewhere in Asia?

I reside in the US and any advice is appreciated!

Both Excelsior College and TESC offer engineering technology degrees. A technology degree would get you a job in engineering test labs or in certain areas of engineering (CAD, liaison, change control, and quality control). Not sure of the tuition cost but you can check for yourself.

Speaking of quality CSUDH offers a BS in quality control.

But your best bet may be to take evening classes at your local CC or state university.

Here are the engineering courses offered on line by TESC
Thomas Edison State College: Course Offerings

Under the comprehensive tuition plan the cost is $8,395 per year and includes 36 semester units, or $233 per unit. I'm not sure what other costs & fees might be involved with this plan.
Not a bad per unit cost. Of course doing 36 units of engineering in 12 months would be tough going.

But most of the gen ed courses required for the degree could be accomplished through lower cost options.

Thanks, however I'd like to get in the UNISA price range. This is borderline hobby education, and I am hoping my previous Bachelor's will help avoid some (or all) of the gen eds.

Does anyone know of any DL Indian, Chinese, etc that are english speaking?

I would be all over UNISA if it wasn't such a communication disaster.

    Engineering degree

A key question would be what you want to be able o do with the degree. If you want to get in with a larger company or teach you would want one that is accredited by a well regarded authority. Here in the U.S. that is ABET.

    Check here International Engineering Agreements

If you get an engineering technology degree it most likely will not get you to the level you may want even though it is ABET accredited.

To reduce the cost of your degree, pick an engineering college and attempt to get most of the lower division courses done through a community college or other means. However, you must check with the school that you are transferring to and be sure the courses you take will be accepted. A physics course from one school may be accepted while another may not even though they appear the same.

Also, depending on what your previous degree was in it may not provide much assistance. My business degree will only help me with a small component of the degree, English, humanities etc. of which there are just a few courses for the engineering degree.

If you do find a less expensive school, please post it here. It would be a great addition to the board.

Getting back to OP's question, Yes there are Indian, and so forth, schools that would be reasonably priced. I know this only from knowledge I have gained on this forum so I cannot give further detail about the international options. Domesticlly, these guys have provided the info. Now for the experts, please provide this guy with the various international options.
