I've said for a long time that one size fits all rankings make no sense, only serving to establish an artificial pecking order. I've hoped that someone would put together a user friendly front end for a database of educational statistics so that prospective students could choose what criteria were important to them and get a personalized list that matches those priorities.

I wouldn't have thought that Time would be the ones to do it, but they have:

College Rankings: How To Make Your Own - TIME

It's not the most comprehensive, but it's at least a decent proof of concept.

For-profit schools are denoted by a dollar sign. LOL. I didn't think the percentage of Pell Grant recipients was all that important, so I moved that all the way down while moving affordability and graduation rates all the way up for a 50/50 split in importance. When you do that, you come out with Harvard, Stanford, MIT, and a bunch of your other typical highly-ranked schools at the top.
