I'm planning to go for a PhD in English literature at Rhodes University (something related to creative writing/ literary theory). However, I have a few questions:
    - Is South Africa a country where English is the native language?
    - What do you know about holders of PhD in English from the Rhodes?
    - What about the costs of living there?
    - Do you have any suggestions, ideas...?
    - What are the chances of Rhodes PhD holders to get a job in a reputable university?
    Thanks :)

South Africa has eleven official languages. I think English is fourth on the list, but I believe you'd find it very widely used in the University environment.

South African Universities are, in general, well-regarded internationally - but I'm not qualified to comment on the particular school, discipline or job prospects.
