Any real brick and mortor offer such an DL program as well?

I'm a full time programmer(java), I'm 26, I work pretty hard. I never went to college(stupid me) but I would like a degree in math. I know there is many niches in there as well, I don't plan to get a ph.d or anything, just a bachelors, maybe a masters when the time comes.

If I could just knock out all the general education stuff, and then do 1.5 or 2 years on campus that would be ok as well. I would prefer to do that at a community college I guess since it would be cheaper.

I would like a real degree though in the end, not something that states online this or that. What would be the best way to achieve this?

    I'm in Columbus Ohio btw

    Thank you

Are there any colleges I can take to get rid of the general education requirements, then transfer to ohio state?

That's usually done most cheaply and quickly at your local community college. Most offer a great deal of online classes.

It would be more expensive, but you could also knock them out completely online at Excelsior College or Charter Oak State College.

I would prefer I guess to do the general education requirements as local as possible.

Columbus State is a well known community college here. I'm guessing they will offer many online programs.

I have known many people who go there, they say it's super easy. I wonder if they would allow me to do like 20 credit hours per semester.

I would like to CLEP out of 30 or so credits (the highest Ohio State allows). So 30 + 2 semesters at Columbus State I'm guessing would be enough to start the actual major.

I know it sounds like I'm trying to rush, I'm not really, but I am 26. As mentioned I already have a really good job and a degree in Math isn't going to change my occupation either way. With that being said, I know the first 2 years esp at a community college will be beyond easy. My "dumb" friend who never studies and waits to the last minute to do anything, passed it quite easily.

I already love math in an out. Do tons of calc problems every day + all kinds of cool algebra problems. Also have a new statistics book where I spend a good amount of time. So I'm not sure how difficult the actual math major itself will be, but a good chance that I have a great start.

Thomas Edison State College would be way cheaper than Excelsior College and Charter Oak State College, but it's not the cheapest. When price is a concern for online courses, I always advise people to first look at in-district community colleges, then in-state community colleges, and then other in-state colleges and universities. For great out-of-state tuition rates for virtual students, I would look at Chadron State College, Peru State College, and Fort Hays State University. I think some of the New Mexico community colleges are still a good deal.

I mean this would be one of the best ways to do it right?

Looks like Columbus State offers many online programs, even full bachelors in conjunction with some other schools. I'm guessing they offer the general education stuff online. I would like to maybe 1 semester or so on campus there just to see how it compares.

How much does an in community - community college charge you on average per semester? I would prefer to keep cost below 7 or 8k per year for this part.

If you're looking to knock out some GE courses, you should also take a look at Westcott Courses - General education courses online, they offer online GE courses. You will end up receiving a transcript through USU University, based in San Diego CA. They are regionally accredited through WASC.

The thing that's nice about going through westcottcourses.com is a lot of the classes are self paced math classes fully online. Also, the benefit is they seem to do a good job keeping costs per class pretty low, and you get a transcript from a WASC accredited University. Recently, they seem to be doing a pretty good job adding more and more classes as well. might be a good way to knock a few classes out during the summer?
