Does anyone know of any online masters programs in political science/government and economics? I am looking for a program where I could get 18 hours of each so that I could teach both subjects at the community college level. I have found programs that combine political science with other things, such as history, but have yet to run across anything that includes economics. The program at Western New Mexico would be prefect if they had a concentration in economics. Thanks in advance for your help.
Welcome to DegreeInfo! I hope you find what you are looking for, but it might be a challenge. Aside from WNMU, other similar degrees I've seen have required courses that do not have the same course prefix as the concentrations. As a hypothetical example, you might get two concentrations of 15 credits each with 6 interdisciplinary/core course credits that don't fall into either. Not to be pessimistic- just to give you the heads up on what to expect.
Online master's programs in economics are rare as hen's teeth, and I would think that a dual master's in economics and government would be even rarer.
Would this work for you? Master International Relations with the Norwich Diplomacy Degree | Norwich University Online It seems to include both politics (diplomacy) and economics. Or there is London (LSE is well respected). You could earn post-grad diplomas in both Econ and in Politics (then finish one area for a masters degree). Here are the 100% online Masters in Economics degrees that I've found: John Hopkins - Now the cores and several of their concentrations can be completed 100% online. Purdue - prefer quant heavy undergrads American University U of North Dakota - AASCB Georgia Southern - AASCB None of the above appear to have the ability to mix in PS courses. UND also offers a Master of Public Admin and a grad certificate in Policy Analysis but I'm not sure if that would meet your PS needs.
I've never taken them, but the Harvard Extension School has a few Econ classes that can be done online. -Matt
Thanks for the suggestions. I wasn't expecting much, because I have done a lot of searching without much luck. I will look into these.
Just saw that APUS is doing a survey of potential degree programs. A masters in economics was listed. You may want to go take the survey. -Matt
