Note that the Liberty University Institute for Biblical Studies doesn't appear to directly grant credit itself. Graduates of Liberty IBS "will be eligible for up to *15 hours of college-level, academic credit through Liberty University towards an Associates or Bachelors degree. [14 for distance learners.]"

What does "will be eligible" mean? It might mean "will be eligible to apply for credit by portfolio" like they do with the Liberty Home Bible Institute. It might mean "will be eligible to apply for credit through Institutional Challenge Exams" like I believe they do for the they Willmington School of the Bible at Liberty University – Willmington this was formerly Liberty Bible Institute, but a separate thing from Liberty Home Bible Institute.

Although LHBI and Willmington both are housed at Liberty University, both include or included "Liberty" and "Institute" in their names, and both sell courses, courses from both LHBI and Willmington might lead to Liberty University credit only indirectly. Additional fees are charged for those portfolios assessments or challenge exams. And credit earned from portfolios or challenge exams may be less transferrable than regular credit you'd earn directly from a credit-bearing LU undergraduate program.

The Liberty IBS may well be doing something similar.

5 Core is an all new set of courses taught by Dr Ed Hindson. We are currently still putting the final pieces together (including an FAQ section) that will help answer these questions. In the mean time here is a section from the upcoming FAQ to help answer the question about credits

Liberty IBS is an extension of Liberty University's Center for Professional and Continuing Education. The courses themselves do not grant automatic credits, but they are held to a standard in teaching and testing that allows them to be directly transferred into either an Online or Residential program at Liberty University.

hope that answered the Credits question. If you have any more questions or would like to order, please all the number listed on the website. In the next couple weeks we will have online pre-ordering available with Shipping and online access beginning May 1.

There are so many schools out there that do not have a connection with Jerry Falwell. I'd chose anything other than Liberty.

    No, I am not anti-Christian but I am anti-hatred.

No. I am not a fan of the late Mr. Falwell though.

In fact, I'm not a fan of personality driven colleges and universities, and since he tends to be a rather divisive figure, even in death; I'd avoid Liberty; along with Bob Jones and Oral Roberts.

I'm more moderate politically and theologically. If it's possible that the name of a southern preacher might cost anyone a job, I'm squarely against that.
