I'm looking for a distance doctorate in history. This can be a doctorate in history of religion,education,etc....doctorate in history of anything( phd, Doctor of Arts, etc.). I would prefer a U.S. Institution.
Unless I'm forgetting something recent, the closest there is in the U.S. at present is the PhD in Classical Civilization from the University of Florida. One can do a doctoral program in education with an 18 semester-hour concentration in history through the EdD in Educational Leadership at the University of Cumberlands -- the overall degree is in education, not history, but in format I suppose it's similar to a DA. If you're willing to consider foreign schools then your options increase markedly.
I suppose you could do a DA in History (using the Great Books) from Harrison Middleton University... Doctor of Arts Degree Program - Harrison Middleton University
or the PhD in Humanities & Culture from the Union Institute & University Union Institute & University | Distance Learning - Online Degrees - Colleges and Universities.
... or the PhD in History (via the Great Books) from Faulkner University Christian University in Alabama | Affordable Christian College.
