So, I'm aware of the value of both the CSP and CIH, but the University of Texas at Arlington offers these courses, which are inexpensive and lead to becoming certified in the various safety, environmental, and hygiene fields. My opinion is that while these may not be as well known as their CSP/CIH counterparts, they offer the ability to learn about the fields, which could then be applied when taking both examinations (the CIH/CSP). Plus, these certifications are coming from a state university.

My only real question is do you think employers value these certifications and consider them when hiring? I've read that UT Arlington is becoming a premier training school in this field, so I'm curious if that means that these certifications will hold more weight in the future.

I'm already scheduled for two of the trainings next month. Thoughts and opinions?
