    Hello,

I have approximately 30 credits from prior study (CLEP, and 6 credits of business classes) but do not live near a major city for testing.

I am looking for an online associate degree (general arts/business) that has affordable out of state tuition (am currently living overseas) and does not require proctored exam.

New Mexico Junior College is affordable, but am not too sure if the exams are proctored or not.

Does anyone know of any good schools that offer online programs without proctored exams at the college level?

If you attend one of the "Big Three" you can take individual courses from whichever school(s) you choose. Depending on your existing credit, you may not even need more than another few classes. I suggest you look at the various degree plans from TESC, COSC and Excelsior, then use FEMA credit to their fullest potential in whichever degree plan offers their maximum use. Then choose a school you like for the last few classes.

The big three, mentioned on post #2, also provide credit for CLEP and DSST you might pass. Yes these are proctored but there are testing locations in many areas plus the cost is low. These tests include business which should help you earn a AA in business.

Also the geology courses I took though Coastline Community College did not need a proctor. But other courses may require them.

On the other hand, if a proctor is too much of an inconvenience, then CLEP tests probably are as well.

All of the big 3 mentioned in this thread accept credit by exam, college classes, and non-college classes that have been approved by ACE or NCCRS.

CLEP (and DSST) do require going to a testing center, however ACE and NCCRS classes don't, they use web-proctoring technology now, so you can take an exam anywhere.

College classes- my family has taken many community college classes, and the exam requirements are never consistent - it will vary from course to course. Any college offering distance learning that requires a campus visit is usually called "hybrid" or will state the requirement if they don't say anything, assume web proctoring or non-proctoring. But there is no way to work this out in advance, it's just not practical to try and predict what future teachers will do based on what past (different) teachers did. You're going to blow months wasting time on that.

The actual "list" of non-proctored ACE or NCCRS providers is tiny, and unlikely to help you in any way because EVEN IF you could find a provider (like ALEKS) they only offer math, so once you've checked that box, you're still on the hook for everything else.

My point is that your proctor situation has to be resolved. All you'll need is a webcam and an internet connection. Once you get that, you're golden and can attend any of the big 3 easily.

(my suggestion is Charter Oak- they accept the most electives for the AS and you'll only take 1 class- the cornerstone, no final exam)

    Why no proctored exams?
