As I continue to do research for a possible proposal for a SA doctorate I am still looking at various options. I really like the HMU Doctor of Arts program and wonder if there is an overseas equivalent that would be a bit less expensive. Does anyone know of such a program? My motivation in seeking a doctoral degree is to increase my qualifications for teaching at a local level. I do not expect ever going for a teaching position at an RA school...at least not outside of my field (pastoral theology). That said, I love to teach theology, philosophy, and Bible. I would be very interested in pursuing courses and work toward a culminating project much like the HMU capstone project (after the courses). In the end, I am wondering if a structured program like that is better for me than a purely research dissertation model. The cost is a bit high though (I guess I could spread it out over 8 years and make it manageable) so I was wondering if there were any similar options overseas (maybe an Ed.D program that could be fit to that kind of model)?
