I'd like to know if anyone has an idea how I can create online quizzes for free. I hold a free virtual study group every other month for homeschool parents, and I'd like to create a way of giving short quizzes to the group. I don't want to grade them, I'd like them to be self-scoring, more as a feedback mechanism than anything else. I've taken quizzes like this, but I've no idea how to generate one.

Since I do this as a volunteer, if I can't find a free way to do this, I'll have to think of something else, but I'm confident that SOMEONE in this group has an idea or two!

Thanks. The free option with them doesn't work real well for what I need, and I'm not yet ready to plunk in $25/year. I've tried several that are okay but I'm still looking for the best fit. I've tried Blubbr (to strange), Zoho (more for surveys), Quizdini (currently closed), Image Quiz (uses images- better for map identification), Socrative (I love this, however, you have to be live which is such a bummer), Infuse ($$), and Google Forms (I might end up using this).

You might find the Quia website useful.

There seem to be quizzes others have submitted, and people create their own for their particular set of students.

I used it for a college class where quizzes were posted there.

I have two ideas that are pretty simple, but would require a bit of knowledge and some time to put together. Neither of these options is a good fit for someone whose likely reaction to seeing a wee bit of source code is to cower and cry in hopeless resignation :saevilw:

    1) Make your own! There are free webhosts out there that you can use to upload your own webpages. A self-grading quiz is easy to write in JavaScript, but to make it even easier, you can probably find a template to copy.

    2) Make your own! Quizzes can be created in spreadsheets, if you're familiar with the different types of form inputs. Or there might be a template you can copy. You can upload them to Google Docs if you want them to be available online.

Eh, I have a feeling neither of thosee two options are ideal, but those are the two I can think of. You mentioned that Quizlet doesn't fit what you need. What is it that you need, specifically?

FYI, Quizlet has a mobile app. You might find them useful in other ways for your tutoring.

Do you have webspace? If so, you could use Moodle.
