I have a PhD, MA and MTheol by traditional routes, but am interested in getting a masters or doctorate on the basis of published work - several books and a dozen or so refereed journal articles. Does anyone know of a good institution that would offer something suitable? I did think of the BD of the University of Durham, but that doesn't seem to be available now.

It seems it's the British universities that are most fond of this. There won't be many that suit your needs, you can probably identify them all in an afternoon. By the way, why would you want a second PhD in the area of your first PhD? Redundant?
My first PhD is actually in political studies. I'm not necessarily wedded to the idea of a second PhD - another masters degree would be fine.
I have a publication record of some half dozen books and more than 50 refereed journal articles. Most are in the field of my PhD - constitutional law - but a dozen or so, and a couple of books, are in theology and/or canon law, which is the field in which I could like a degree.
