I am nearing completion of my Computer Networking & Security degree at UMUC online.

I have 4 courses left to complete, all of which are upper-level (300 or 400) electives.

I've got two jobs, a wife, kids, and very little free time to finish up my degree.

I'm looking for the path of least resistance on the last few courses. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi umucin2014. A warm welcome to Degree Info! About the delay in your posts showing up: http://www.degreeinfo.com/general-distance-learning-discussions/35100-new-users-ask-where-did-my-posts-go.html

The big question is whether U of Maryland will accept upper level courses in transfer to their degree program. So taking a few extra classes at another school and then transferring them back to UMUC might not work. HOWEVER: The fact that they are elective courses may work in your favor. You might call them and ask, you never know for sure until you try.

It is possible to transfer all or most of your units to a few select online schools. You might face setbacks, but who knows? Try Excelsior College or Charter Oak State College; both good schools. Excelsior is really good about accepting transfer units. Hopefully they offer a program that will work for you.

Since you are so close to completion, is there any way you can just tough-it-out at UMUC? Nearly impossible I can understand with two jobs, wife and kids. It might still be the path of least resistance though. Especially so if they offer night classes. I wouldn't envy you trying to pull all of that off, but it will be worth it in the end.

Yes. My goal is to tough it out at umuc. I'm just looking for suggestions on a few courses that will fulfill upper level elective requirements without consuming ridiculous amounts of time. I have taken all of the computer related courses available without further prereqs. Not sure what the other course types are like.

Can you use DSST exams towards your particular degree?

UMUC does accept credit earned through DSST exams Locate an Institution | DSST | Get College Credit

Some schools accept DSST exams for upper division credit

I suggest that the "Business Ethics and Society", the "Ethics in America" are valuable courses, and the "Here's to your Health" course should be be relatively easy. There are several other UD courses that might be easy depending on your knowledge and interests. By "easy" I mean relative to courses such as math.

As for existing UMUC elective courses, pick ones that you know something about or ones that interests you. Again ethics is a course that many employers like to see.
