What tricks of the trade, knowing-the-ropes and other odds and ends make getting financial aid easier?

    Thanks,

It seems to me that this question is too big to be adequately answered in a forum such as this. There have been other discussions regarding financial aid on the forum with suggestions about books and other web sites that can be used as resources in this area. If you use the search function you may get at least some answers to your question.

I was just, this very day, looking at a fine little book called "Don't Miss Out: the ambitious student's guide to financial aid." An awfully good and quite detailed look at the entire field. By Anna and Robert Leider. 26th edition. See www.octameron.com

They have a very clever service available, in which they "keep an experienced counselor by the phone nearly every Tuesday from 10 to 4 EST to answer questions. The conversation will cost $35, charged to a credit card." 703/836-5480. If anyone uses that, I'd love to hear comments, including how much time $35.

I wonder (hey, Chip, are ya listening?) if this might be something the experts who respond to questions here on DegreeInfo might consider.

For the nontraditional approach to financing, the Finding Money for College book my daughter and I did 4 years ago is still useful, I think, if growing a bit long in the tooth. It really should be updated, but so far, Ten Speed Press has not shown interest.
