    Walter A

An Associate degree graduate of DETC NA accredited Cleveland Institute of Electronics
successfully enrolled and completed his BSc degree from ABET and RA University of Massachusetts.
It took him 3 years to get dual BSc degree.

    University Of Massachusetts
BS; BS, Computer Science; Electrical Engineering Dual
    951 - Senior
(96 Credit Hours / 138 needed to complete program)

    Cleveland Institute of Electronics
AAS, Electronics Engineering Technology (ACET, 4.0)

Looks like he was able to transfer 42 credits toward the BS degree.

I did the CIE AASEET in the 1980s. I'm trying to remember how much of the program was general credits as opposed to technical credits. That was a long time ago but looking at the program now, I don't think it has changed that much.

Very good program, by the way.

    Just so I can bust Lerner . . .

it's just one case. one. you don't know all the factors that went into the umass admission decision. we all know that there's increased acceptance of detc degrees but you're pretending to know that there were no other factors. how many of his credits did they accept. he finished in 3 years but how many credits did he take per semester in order to accomplish that? if someone wants to take a chance that a detc accredited degree will get them into an ra school that's fine with me but how about finding a list of people who were denied admission? find that list. i am a fan of several detc schools but all the available evidence indicates that they still are not seen, generally as being equal.

I think you make a good point.
Its still more misses then hits.

Walter had to take 96 Credit Hours to complete his program of 138 credit hours.
All he had when applied to U of Mas was AASEET CIE degree.

He was able to transfer 42 credits.

Well, assuming that his Associates degree was 60 credits that means they accepted approximately 2/3 of his credits. So does that mean that a DETC Associates degree equals 2/3 of an RA Associates degree?

    Not necessary so.

I think they recognized classes that matched their own classes close enough to grant credit.
I have seen the same with RA AS degrees.

A person with AS degree from El Camino College in Torrance CA was able to transfer 60 credits to UCLA English major or about 40 to UCLA Comp Sci major.

Even Cal State Long Beach accepted only 46 credits toward Cal State Comp Sci degree.

It can be that all credit is transferred but one still needs to take more classes, I seen people with 240 RA credit hours who earned BSc degree that required 120 to 140 Credit Hours.
Many colleges provide programs that can have maximum acceptance in to their university system.

Also His CIE AAS degree was Engineering Technology vs Electrical Engineering and Comp Sci at U of Mas.

I would call that exceptionally poor planning.
