Just kind of an interesting side note. Paige Patterson, who fairly recently was the Southern Baptist Convention President, has a wife named Dorothy. Dorothy Patterson heads a woman's studies program at one of the Baptist schools. She also completed her Doctor of Ministry from Luther Rice Seminary and more recently her Doctor of Theology from the University of South Africa.

Dr. Paige Patterson is one of the architects of the conservative take over of the SBC a few years back and more recently the traditional statement about women & the submission issue. It is worth noting that this issue is not to be over simplified in attempting to understand it. I am sure his wife, Dr. Dr. Patterson would be the first to say so.

  2. Her Unisa dissertation: "Aspects of a Biblical Theology of Womanhood."

I shall move on without further comment...

I once had the opportunity to dialogue with Dr. Dorothy Patterson about her experiences as a UNISA doctoral student. She had very positive things to say about her studies with UNISA. Her thesis promoter at UNISA was Dr. Adrio Konig, the same gentleman who supervised the research of Dr. John Sanders, professor at Huntington College in Indiana, and author of "The God Who Risks" and "No Other Name."

As far as Dorothy's DMin from LRS is concerned: I believe that Luther Rice has experienced significant growth in stature in the SBC since the conservative take-over. There are a number of LRS grads who hold key positions of influence within the denomination.

Truly! LRS graduates read like a who's who of the Southern Baptist Convention. Although not officially a SBC school it certainly makes no bones about the strong ties. LRS has a bricks and mortar campus with residential students, add to that the number of prominent graduates and you have a pretty good DL choice.
