I've lately been enjoying listening to music on Spotify. The only "payment" is listening to a short commercial for Full Sail University every 10 or 15 minutes. I assume this is paid advertising, and not that there is some connection between Spotify and Full Sail, and perhaps eventually there will be other advertisers. Or are the ads matched to music selection, and my odd selections (this evening: Woody Guthrie, Paul Robeson, Slim Critchlow) tell them that I am a potential sailor at Full Sail?
I doubt it's a coincidence. If they can use cookies to tie your Spotify account to your other online activities, they can put together a pretty comprehensive picture of your interests. Basically, if you like privacy, then don't use the Internet.
Paul Robeson - Old Man River Slim Critchlow - Brazos River Woody Guthrie - Red River Valley Dr. Bear, they've glommed onto your interest in rivers and figured you want to go Full Sail down one! What genius! Only on the Internet could this serendipitous, highly intuitive juxtaposition be possible! :jester: Yeah -- what Steve said! Johann
