I have completed 27-30 hrs in history from American Public University. I am looking to transfer. Any suggestions for an online M.A. in History that will accept most of these credits.

You aren't going to find one that will accept most of the credits. A program like the Master of Liberal Arts at Excelsior College might accept 15 credits worth.

27-30 credits puts you 2-3 classes from graduation. Why transfer this late in the program?

Most graduate schools will not let you transfer in that many credits. APU's program is 36 credits, so why not finish the degree at APU?

Growing frustrations with the university. Unable to finish on time due to the requirements. Just wanting to finish this degree, and be done with this university for good.

If you don't mind me asking, what was it in particular that you did not like? Would you recommend APU? The reason I ask is because I have a friend of mine about to start the master in humanities program at APU, and she asked me what I thought. So far I've heard mostly good stories about APU and its counterpart AMU. However, having no experience with them I cannot say for sure.

I liked it in the beginning. However, the past couple of semesters were frustrating. The professors are not exactly the best, as far as communicating and working with the students. The university is constantly changing program requirements. I am 6 hours from graduating, and finishing with them would take another year. I have been attending since July of last year. Instead of graduating in March, it would now be July maybe. I wanted to do a thesis but I'm willing to not do the thesis if I can just leave this school. They did offer the option of not doing a thesis, but the way they keep changing I am not sure if that is even an option. I just want to finish the degree instead of getting the run around at the end of every semester.

Changing the program requirements while you are enrolled in the program seems pretty odd. When all of the schools that I attended or worked at changed program requirements, they made it clear that the changes wouldn't apply to those already enrolled in the program so long as they finished within the time limit.

One administrator at a school that I attended went on to tell me explicitly that the course catalog that was in effect when I enrolled was a contract between the school and myself. To change the rules mid-stream just wasn't allowed. I remember one time that a dean at a university I worked at tried to pull a fast one on some students and change the program requirements midway through. One call by the students (or perhaps it was the students' attorney) to the provost with the LEGAL implications of doing so shut that down pretty quickly.

airtorn is right. If you transfer (there aren't that many programs to choose from) you're actually going to lose time because the new school is likely to only accept 9 or maybe 12 credits. Perhaps better to finish what you started.

At the master's level, it would be rather unusual for a school to accept much more than 9 hrs. in transfer. My advice: finish up with AMU.
