I received my unofficial credit review from Excelsior college today.

I submitted an application for the BS in General Business, but received a review for the BA/BS Liberal Arts program. No big deal; I'm sure it will be an easy fix.

What concerned me was the fact that all 3 semester hour classes I've taken were reviewed as being worth 2 semester hours. All 4 semester hour classes were rated at 2.67 semester hours. My two Freshman Composition classes (I & II) were given a total worth of 2.67 semester hours. (6 semester hours)

All of these glasses were liberal arts class; no business or technical, CEU, etc. The school has very good standing with the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

All of my Subject and General Cleps, along with my DANTES DSST exams were given the full 3 or 6 credit.

Has anyone else experienced the same? Is this the norm for Excelsior?

    All the best,

    Phil:confused:

  2. Weird. It looks as though they did a quarter-to-semester conversion, thinking that your credits were from a school on the quarter system?

  3. I second that. It's exactly a 1.5:1 conversion.. or, in technical terms..

    sounds like a simple mistake

It does sound like they thought they were converting quarter hours to semester hours. It would be worth checking with them. Usually there are some appeal processes available.
When I was at Florida State they had quarter hours. When I transfered in semester hours a 3 semester credit class was worth something like 4.5 quarter hours. But going the other way a 3 quarter hour class was worth something like 2 semester hours. 4 quarter credits was 2.67 semester hours.
    It certainly sounds worth pursuing.
    All the best!
