Is there another website from another country that focuses on DL degrees, program, schools? C'mon MC, start googling!

An example from Germany - not a forum but a distance-ed blog. Fernausbildung | Bildungsblog

I suppose one could find sites on distance education in any language in which one could enter that phrase into Google. That's how I got this one.

Looks like Kizmet forgot about Johann. He's the one to go for exotic languages. If you are looking for a lingua franca or two, then you can call me :)

By the way, I found nothing on the first or second pages in either my search in French or Spanish. If it's not even on the second page, it might as well not even exist. As far as I'm concerned, that is

I'm with you MC, I could not find anything in Spanish. This got me thinking, maybe I will put my Spanish skills to good use and create a Spanish speaking DL forum.

¡Momentito, por favor, distinguidos señores!

I just put "formación a distancia" into Google and got pages of Spanish-language distance stuff - more than I could sort through. And the Russian-language site was from a search on "formation à distance France." I added the "France" because without it I got pages of Quebec links when I really wanted European ones. With the French search, there were plenty of sites, but I cited the Russian-language one as I thought it was especially interesting.

I'm searching to see what Portuguese-language distance-ed links I can get from Brazil. I'll let you know.

As Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) said, "The truth is out there."

All I had to enter was formação (educação is fine, too) a distância Brasil (to exclude sites in Portugal) -- and up came many pages. Here's a blog - "Is distance education worth it?"

Educação a distância vale a pena? | Carreira | Nova Escola

Brazil has an "Open University" - Universidade Aberta do Brasil and also a Distance Ed. Association - Associação Brasileira de Educação a Distância (Abed), so I'm guessing DE is well-developed there.

Come to think of it - we have a member, (HikaruBr?) who lived there before coming to the U.S. He could probably tell us loads more!

Wait, you did google 'distance education' in German and that was the best result? Wow, I know Google search results are localized, but that's hard to believe. I even tried it myself and the best three results were exactly like expected:

Fernstudium-Infos.de: Antworten auf alle Fragen zum Fernstudium

    Fernstudium Guide Forum

Fernstudium Forum für Fernstudierende und Fernschüler

All three are forums and similar to degreeinfo.
It is odd that you didn't get these results. However, you're of course not located in Germany like me.

Good job, Mintaru. Just now, by Googling "Forum + Fernstudium" I got similar results to yours. When I used just "Fernausbildung" as my search-term, I didn't find anything close. My fault. I'm not a native speaker; my real name is John. "Johann" is what they called me in German class 50-odd years ago and I've obviously forgotten a lot!

    Vielen Dank!

Steve - the above has just got to be screamingly funny. I've tried to "get it" but I can't. Help me out. Who is that?

It's Johan (from Johan and Peewit) which is, in turn, from the Smurfs.

Bonus question: What color does a Smurf turn when you strangle him?
    C'mon, it's only a tiny bit evil

Thanks Kizmet - and thanks Steve, that was funny! A welcome laugh. After almost two full minutes of Internet research, (i.e. Google and Wiki) I've determined that there are a whole range of possible answers. My money is on the reply that said Smurfs turn dark purple when strangled.

The poster said that it was answered - in a segment where a Smurf threatened to hold his breath until he turned red - but he actually turned dark purple. Unless the TV was on the fritz, I'll go with that. Here's a Wiki-answers post on the subject:

If you choke a Smurf what color does it turn

Of course, when Jeff Dunham asked this question, Walter had a different answer!

Oh l don`t know. Like if you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn | Jeff Dunham: Spark of Insanity quotes

    Name the three female Smurfs.

There are three female Smurfs: Smurfette, Sassette, and Nanny

    Source - Yahoo UK

Q: Nanny has a pet rabbit. What is its name?

I am at the end of my Smurf trivia knowledge. You win.

The rabbit's name is Smoogle. And I didn't "win" anything - I didn't know anything, to start with. Just a bit of fun with Google and Wiki etc. You know way more about cartoons than I ever will. Remember Dr. Doofenschmirtz? I thought you invented him - that's how much I don't know!

Hey - it was real fun! Thanks again.
