NAU's competency based program seems like it's drawing a lot of interest but the whole thing sounds too confusing to me.

DxD=D^2 noticed that you're attending Southern New Hampshire. I thought you're enrolling in Pepperdine?

    Hi Taylor,

Yes, I was accepted; however, I turned it down. The thought of paying $1065 per unit was stressing me out!

After evaluating my options and my future career plans, I decided to do SNHU, for reasons below:

    1) I want to take my grad program slower. SNHU classes are 11 weeks long (in stead of 8 weeks like LU), and I decided to take one class at a time. Unlike my undergraduate, I don't want to be as stressed as I was. I also qualify for FA, even while taking one class at a time.

    2) I was accepted to NAU and Pepperdine, but I chose SNHU because of the curriculum and program. NAU was a MEd. in Human Relations (but I figure I would have to explain this to a lot of future employees that it's not really human relations but rather and ed psych degree). Pepperdine was a MA in Ed. with an emphasis in Educational Psychology. I really want to get my feet wet in IO psychology but couldn't find the program and format that I wanted to fit my schedule, until I found SNHU. With a degree in psychology, I have a better chance to teach undergrad psychology classes as an adjunct, than I would if I had a Ed. Psych degree (yes, I know I need a PhD to have a competitive advantage).

    3) I wanted to attend a non-profit school. I know there are a lot of debates about non-profit/for-profit, but I wanted this for my own personal reasons.

    4) SNHU has been innovative in terms of growth and their online program. I also enjoy the services provided by SNHU. Their career development department has really helped me. In fact, I just landed a new job--some of which I believe was due to their webinars, resume feedback, and advice.

Overall, I'm feel comfortable with taking my graduate degree slower rate and gaining the most from it. Pepperdine wanted to push me out in 1.5 years...I really don't want to rush it. I'm sure there are a lot of people who feel the same about the importance of finding the right place for your studies.

I didn't know until earlier this year that SNHU used to be a for profit college.

So, $3,195 per class? Yeah, I can understand!
