Here is the text from their letter:

"Fees for the whole MA are £7380 from September 2013. However, these are paid module by module, thus the cost is spread over the entire period of study which is between two and four years. The fees are the same for home and international students. Please see further information below:-

    2013-14

The fee rate from September 2013 will be £41 per credit. This works out as follows:

    ·******** a 15 credit module will cost £615

    ·******** a 30 credit module will be £1230

·******** the dissertation (60 credits) will be £2460

This means that the projected fees are £7380 for the whole Masters (MA). Fees will rise slightly each year, however, students will normally be charged at the same rate throughout the Masters (MA). This will be the current rate at the time of initial registration."

Will this degree be viewed as sufficient for Ph.D. entrance requirements in the US?

I have contacted two state universities, and the specific programs, and each has said they would let me know when I apply.

So, are there many opinions on this?

The program seems quite cost effective, i.e., compared to NAU and APU.

    Thank you!

With a Royal Charter since 1948; I cannot envision that a graduate degree (in this instance the MA in English Studies by Web Based Distance Learning) awarded by Nottingham would not be sufficient for qualification into a US doctoral program. The degree, as with any Master of Arts degree, requires a thesis (dissertation in UK language).

No school is going to tell you that any degree will guarantee admission to their PhD program. They will all want you to go through the regular admission process during which they will consider all your qualifications. Having said that, Nottingham is a respectable school and it's easy to imagine that it's degree holders will be seen in a good light. I don't know how competitive English Lit PhD programs are these days. Are you Thinking B&M or DL?
