I am a student in Texas that would like to pursue a bachelors in accounting. I have narrowed my online school choices to Washington State University Global Campus and Northeastern University's College of Professional Studies. Here are my concerns:

1: WSU's accounting program is a BBA with an accounting major while Northeastern offers a BS in Finance and Accounting Management. I am not sure which degree would look better to companies when it comes time to look for a job
2: Northeastern University is significantly more expensive than WSU
3: Both programs are AACSB accredited and regionally accredited.
4: I have been accepted to both schools

I know NEU is ranked higher than WSU but I am not sure if that includes the College of Professional Studies.
Ultimately I am asking which school and degree has a better chance of landing me a good job in the workforce. I plan on starting out in accounting and eventually move into Financial Advising or Planning.

I don't know if anyone can answer your question convincingly because it requires predicting the future, knowing which company you'd be interviewing with, who the interviewer might be, etc. I don't put a lot of stock in rankings and if you get your CPA then it probably won't matter much where you went to school because it's the certification that is the golden ticket. Others may disagree.

I am second to Kizmet; so I would recommend you WSU because of cost effective. Also, since it is 21st century; it is more likely you have go for a Master degree later to enhance your chance of jobs. Therefore, once you earn your Master degree; your Bachelor degree does not matter at that time anymore.

I believe a mediocre Bachelor plus a prestigious Master would be a golden ticket for job hunting in term of educational background.

mdlc, just get your CPA and don't worry about it. IMO, you are over-thinking it. Pick the school that appeals most to you and understand that there are few people out there with a CPA that are doing poorly. Get your CPA and you will do fine.

If Tekman and Kizmet suggest WSU, then there is your answer. I respect both of these individuals.
