Hi - new to this forum and hoping for some advice to narrow down my search. I'm looking for a research only (dissertation only) Masters or PhD that I can pursue from South Africa. I am a published author and have postgrad business qualifications but now want to pursue some research in the field of proactive stress management (health sciences probably - all commerce faculties I have contacted give the standard "that's a humanities issue" response. I don't happen to think so, but I'm not holding the microphone as they say!). I run my own business in the mornings and am the ugliest soccer Mom in our neighbourhood most afternoons, so I need flexibility (hence...distance learning, research only etc.) Any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated. Be well Richard
Here is a list of research only (thesis) Masters from UWA in Australia: Courses : UWA Handbooks 2013 - Courses : The University of Western Australia ...it's a start
Have you eliminated all of the South African Universities, even the small ones? You could pitch Stress Management as a function of Human Resources, which might give you a little more flexibility.
That can also fall under Industrial/Organizational Psychology, which is closely related to Human Resources.
Please be sure to check out the University of Limpopo. This is the home of MEDUNSA, the Medical University of South Africa. They have some nice medically oriented DL programs.
PS. I was thinking of the DBL (Doctor of Business Leadership) in particular, because many areas of research can be framed within a leadership context. Such as "How can leaders act to reduce stress levels in their organizations?" In my experience leadership is a much more welcoming and flexible bucket than I think many other commerce areas would be.
