I'm not sure if this "school" has been addressed or not before, but came across it when doing a Google search on another topic and wanted to issue a warning to avoid Missionary Chapel and Seminary.

Oh, Dang! You mean I can't get a meaningful D.Th. (or Th.D.) for $29.95? Oh, woe is me! Say it ain't so....

You keep linking to mills, but please don't. Every time you do this, it positively impacts how highly ranked they are on Google and similar search engines, because their algorithms include measures of perceived popularity, which comes from links like this.

Steve, I've linked to one other mill. And the only reason why I've done so was because I was advised by another Senior member in a post to let the group know when you come across such an institution. Besides wouldn't my post show up on Google exposing it as a mill? Nevertheless, I won't post anymore that I come across. I guess people who partake in such scams get what they deserve anyway.

You can get a piece of paper from MCS that states you have a DTh/ThD for $29.95, but you are correct in that you can't get a meaningful DTh/ThD for that price.

It may indeed impact search engine rankings, but anyone who would view this site and perceive it as legitimate...........ummmm, they may also be interested in some prime property in the Everglades.

I think the idea is that it's OK to identify the school, even it's location, ownership, etc. it's all OK. Beyond that, the url draws people to the site. It's fine to alert people to mills or possible mills but we don't really want google to promote their business.

This price is for inscription, it is not the price of diploma, because you have to work for any diploma with presentation of thesis and if you want transcript you have to write least six essays on news headlines and another subjects. Fort doctorate degree, you must have a Master's degree.

It's your forum so you do what you want but the problem is that since the link was deleted what am I going to do? I am going to Google it so I can see what the fuss is about. So either way Google is going to record a hit. The only difference is that by leaving it in you save me--the curious user--a click. But I don't think that taking the link out of the OP is going to impact its Google ranking one way or the other because it is going to still get searched on Google one way or the other.

I totally agree, you have to pay at least $99 to get something like that. ;-)

Facts about the MCS ThD per their website:

    1. The degrees are listed for sale under the "Church Store" tab. No academic validity whatsoever.

    2. All items listed on the "Church Store" page are shipped "within two business days." No "earning" a degree here, a brief financial transaction will get you piece of paper.

    3. The cost of the ThD is $29.95. This is extremely expensive for a stamp.

Could you please provide documentation to verify the requirement of a thesis, six essays, etc.?

Sepavideration of church and state in the United States - WIKIPEDIA

Missionary Chapel and Seminary is a good Church. First Amendment provides that : "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof ...". Article VI specifies that "no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.'' Jefferson's comments "may be accepted almost as an authoritative declaration of the scope and effect of the [First] Amendment." In Everson v. Board of Education (1947), Missionary Chapel is registred in Tennessee, this is legal : it's not a Mill. You can see it in in page two ''About us''. It's a religious doctorate degree. The price is for inscription, it's not the the price for diploma. A diplôme mill like Esoteric Theological Seminary sells diploma for $600 !! Seminary Chapel require a lot of work to obtain a diploma with transcript. This is legal by the Firts Amendment in USA.

Missionary Chapel and Seminary is registred in Tennessee. This is legal, for a Church. You can see with Google : ''First Amendment to the United States Constitution'' by Wikipedia.

Have you problems with the First Amendment ? It prohibits the making of any law respecting an establisment of religion. Misionary Chapel and Seminary is a Church resgistred in Tennessee. To study it's necessary to pay and ''Church Store'' is the price to join it and study. You can't pay for any diploma with Missionary Chapel !! You pay to study and work.

All this just reinforces why I do not think the US Census data is correct. Hard to believe that 33% of the pop has a BS/BA degree or higher when so many unaccredited degrees are floating around. I am not in a position to hire anyone in my field but when I am able to I am going to request all educational transcripts if the person has a degree on their resume. I don't think it is fair to everyone else that worked hard for a degree to be competing for the same job as someone that is dishonest about their credentials.

Not so. How highly a site places in search results depends in part on how popular it's perceived to be, one measure of which is how many other sites link to it.

I agree with deleting the link. If one wants to go degree mill shopping, it should be done elsewhere.
