Well, I have 4 1/2 classes to go to complete my masters. I am EXHAUSTED!!!!! While I am learning a ton that I am able to apply to my career, I am also anxiously awaiting the end of the last class so I can again have some free time. I really can't remember what it's like to breathe!

One thing is for sure, whatever my next pursuit, probably the PhD, I will not attack it like it's a race. While I am grateful for all that I've experienced at the graduate level thus far, I've definitely realized that I need a little more balance in my life.

I remember the feeling! The ironic part is that after it fully settles in that you are now in the Masters club, you start to wonder what stressed you out in the first place. I remember all of the feelings of fear, worry, and failure that I had experienced while writing my thesis. I thought it was an impossible feat! Now I look back and scratch my head. In some cases, I even miss the grind... hence my decision to commit to a graduate certificate program 3 months post-graduation.

As a professor had once said of a colleague on her third master's degree: "You must be a sucker for punishment!" Now, I don't know if I could muster up the strength to go quite there with higher education, but I do recognize the renewed dependency I have on securing A's. It is is, like most addictions, a love-hate cycle. To each his/her own. ;)

You are so close--hang in there! And good luck on your future aspirations (PhD)! I hear that the doctoral dissertation is a beast of a task, and something that I, too, look forward to dread looking forward to doing.

I can completely empathyze with the feeling of just not knowing what to do with yourself when you are done. I have less than 3 weeks before I finish my MS in HRM and I do not know what I will do with my free time afterwards. I guess I am going to get back into riding my mountain bike and will be able to catch up on all the for fun reading I have been neglecting and will be able to spend more time with my wife (well once she finishes her BS in Information System Security haha, she won't start her Masters till January so we will have time off). Though most importantly I can refocus on me, I am heading out the door in the Navy soon and completing my Masters will be one less stressor in my life.

From what I understand the first month will be awesom and then all of a sudden you will get that itch for wanting to do something, anything, to take up all that new found free time.

Congrats on being almost done man.

Great job dude. Assuming I don't implode on myself the last couple weeks of this semester I should have 4 classes to go. I would like to say I'm happy but honestly I will be relieved. Maybe I'm odd but grad school isn't fun like my UG was....LOL.

I had a lot of fun in my undergrad studies as well, but I attribute that to the new experience of learning at a high level. My grad studies have also been fun, in parts, but the grind is really rough. I've been going at it for 17 straight months...6-week accelerated courses without a break...it really takes a toll after a while. I also work about 55-60 hours a week, play in a band, I have a wife and a son, and I start teaching at a community college in two weeks. Ugghhh....I have no idea what I was thinking. I just want to be done at this point. :-(
