I am looking for the cheapest way to get the 35 hours needed for the PMP. The test changes on July 31 and I think I will take a shot at it before the change. I was looking at this site and it looks like it is a 45 hour program for $300 and PMI approved - PMP Preparation: PMP Exam Preparation, Online Project Management PMP, PMI PDUs, PMP PDUs and CAPM Exam Prep Courses, Certification and Training - PMP Exam, CAPM, PMI PDUs, Project Management PMP- Buy Courses

Does that look right? Any other suggestions?

Afaik this is the cheapest option:
Online PMP Courses | Free PMP Practice Questions, tests and study guides for CAMP and PMP
" 40 PMI contact hours*, Guides and Chapter Tests on all Knowledge Areas: 30 days (1 month) for $109.99"

Would be interested in what changes they are going to implement. In case they weren't that strict on the work-experience requirement I would be tempted to do it myself. Any ideas what kind of documentation they demand in case one gets picked for auditing?

I have no idea and hope to nver find out! The change will be a test based on 5th Edition of the PMBOK as opposed to 4th Edition.

If you have access to Skillsoft courses through some organizational affiliation--such as an employer--they offer a complete library of courses that count towards obtaining or maintaining the PMP. (Specifically, Skillsoft is a PMI Registered Education Provider.) These courses are web-based, asynchronous, self-paced, and delivered electronically over the internet. Best of all, if you're part of an organization with a contract with Skillsoft, they're free.

I am starting to list out the projects to show the 4,500 hours and it looks like a PAIN! How many projects typically get listed (for all of you with PMP's)?

Is it worth just doing the CAPM just to avoid the long process of the application?

Yes, it was a pain. Can't say how many, just be generous with yourself (while being truthful, of course).

I wouldn't bother with the CAPM. It sends the wrong message ("beginner") and I don't think it has a strong cachet in the field.

I have created and lead 18 month projects and been part of other 3-6 month projects. I guess it is just a matter of pick the biggest ones and see where that gets me toward the 4,500 hours.
