A couple of weeks ago I posted this email that I received and they returned my call...It is Parkwood University and they are "fully recognized in distance learning". They operate out of the UK and are up front about not being accredited but explained that I don't need an accredited degree unless I want to be licensed (RN or MD). What is their history? Do they ever fool anyone with this approach? U N I V E R S I T Y D I P L O M A S Obtain a prosperous future, money earning power, and the admiration of all. Is this the same group you mentioned in this thread http://www.degreeinfo.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4391 Apparently, they do get some folks to send them $$, else they would go away. However, we all get their emails on a regular basis. clint
There was a astory in the San Jose Murky News this week re: SPAM. It is very cheap to get several million e-mail addresses. Another approach used is to hire a SPAMmer, and give them $25-$50 for each sale or lead generated. These SPAMmers have millions of e-mail addresses, and move from ISP to ISP (One made 15 moves in 3 years time) when they overstay their welcome. If you charge a few hundred bucks for a "degree", and only pay someone $50 for the sale, you are quite profitable. And, yes, there are folks out there that will pay it, some knowing it's worthless, others thinking they actually have a valid degree. Russ http://www.blahetka.com
It was nearly two years ago that a reporter learned that about $2 million a month was being sent, via Western Union, to the Parkwood (and other names) account in Cyprus. Undoubtedly a lot more than that now. At an average of $2,000 per fake degree, that suggests an absolute minimum of 1,000 customers a month. My estimate would be 2 or three times that now. For the record: San Moritz-->Palmers Green-->Harrington-->Devonshire-->Brentwick-->Glencullen-->Thornehill-->Parkwood-->Carlingford (Does Ravenscroft belong here? I'm not sure.)
