I just noticed that Trinity Sem. no longer offers a PHD degree. I wonder if we are going to be hearing some new Accreditation info on the school soon?

May I inquire as to the source of your info?

I just now got off the Trinity site and PhD?ThDs are still there listed. Further I have an email from a faculty member which says Trinity is still committed to their doc programs.

On the other hand, I have it thru the grapevine that T may drop same. I have promised not to divulge that source.

But where did you get your insight?

I went to the web site and did not do a very thorough check but did notice a couple of differences. The Biblical Counseling and Conflict Management programs appear to have dropped the Ph.D. (unless I missed it). In it's place they seem to offer the D.Min. (which of course they offered previously) and the D.A. (Doctor of Arts).

These facts above make me wonder if the school is not considering TRACS as opposed to Regional. I say this because TRACS may be more willing to consider a program with alternative doctorates than one with Ph.D.'s. If they were going RA why not keep the Ph.D.

    TTS Docs

    Hi North:

Upon reading your post I checked again. Appears to me T yet offers both DMin and PhD in Counseling. Also still offers PhD and ThD in Bible or theology. I posed the question to the academic office on T Delta Forum but have gotten no answer yet. An Aussie email pal of mine tells me that a Trinity staffer told him that docs were going to be dropped. Yet another staffer told him, my mate says, that they are not going to be!!

Speaking of not burning one's bridges, perhaps I should not be in too much of a hurry to relinquish my (as yet) enrollment at T. Maybe I should appear to just tread the Trinity waters while yet easing into the Unizul port!? Who knows, perhaps Trinity will get some sort of accreditation.

As for Unizul, I get so anxious..like some chained lion yearning to be released on the prey of the thesis research. At 61 I feel that each day that I don't hear "OK Bill, your accepted, go get it" is just a waste of time!!

    How's your work going?

    Hey Bill

I just went back on the Trinity site and did not see any PHD's. I saw DMIN's offered. I could have missed something. But there is somthing going on in Indiana.

It looks like in the right direction to me.

If it were a tracs accreditation would not we be able to see them on the tracs page conserning canidating schools?

    Re: TTS Docs

    Greetings Bill,

My own doctoral work at ACCS is going fine although in very preliminary stages (thanks for asking).

Below is the site for TTS's 2002 catalogue. They do not list Ph.D.'s. Under each program they list Doctor of Ministry degrees and Doctor of Arts degrees.

    http://www.trinitysem.edu/catalog/tcbtoc.html

As to the question of TRACS and someone (Robert ?) asking about them appearing on TRACS candidacy page, they would only appear if they had acheived candidacy. Otherwise they would have been listed on one of the other pages listing upcoming visits except that TRACS updated it after it fell behind without including candidacy site visits.

I do not know if they are indeed applying for TRACS it may well be RA they are applying for. It is simply a guess because Doctor of Arts & Doctor of Ministry seems more in line with what TRACS might consider for doctorates at this point.

    D.A

Well, in my case, D.A. stands for DUMB (you know what!). I kept keying Trinity's website guess I got the 2001 catalogue.

Maybe I'm not ready to do Thd research, huh?

    Re: ghost docs

The Trinity philosophy and apologetics department certainly still seems to offer Ph.D.s. Scroll down at:

    http://www.trinitysem.edu/catalog/degrap.html

This is getting spooky. Maybe these Ph.D.s are something that only another Bill can see.

Let me ease your mind :D . I am not a Bill, and I saw the same thing!!!
They definitely list a Doctor of Philosophy for several areas. I went to this link
    http://www.trinitysem.edu/catalog/degrbc.html
and there was one there, also.

The 2002 catalogue only lists Doctor of Arts degrees under the Philosophy and Apologetics dept.

    http://www.trinitysem.edu/catalog/bibstud.html#philo degrprog

They must be gearing up for something but what? Ist it TRACS or Regional Accreditation or .......... University of Malawi (just kidding no offense meant to Malawi, Columbia CU, or Malawi).

My link below does not appear to bring up the complete info. Go to the web site. Click on the seminary. Then click on the 2002 catalogue, then the table of contents. I cannot find any Ph.D. programs only Doctor of Arts & DMin.'s

I sincerely hope they are attempting genuine accreditation.

I am working on 9 credit hours due to VA requirements. I have until mid June to complete the courses. These are my first 3, so far so good. A short couple of years from now I will be done :D

Good luck to you. Did you switch to the Counseling D.Min. or going with the other?

    Trinity Tracs?

Don't think so. The word from JW Montgomery to a friend of mine was RA. I spoke to a Tracs exec about three months ago who said Tracs was not set up to deal with an entirely DL school.

Pretty sure you guys (and I) who saw the PhD spectrals were viewing the 2001 catalogue. Oh well, time for this old guy to go to bed and dream of a letter of acceptance from UZULU.

But if you go to the website and click on the *college*, rather than the seminary, then follow the links to the college side's 2002 catalog, you will find that the Ph.D. programs are still there.

    http://www.trinitysem.edu/catalog/tcbtoc.html

In fact, I just clicked on 'seminary', then clicked on 'view the 2002 seminary catalog' in the upper right and again on the page that led me to, and then found myself back at the college side's menu with the Ph.D. programs. I still don't know how to get to the page you posted. Perhaps the seminary side has changed their catalog entries, but I can't find them.

My guess is that they aren't dropping the Ph.D.s at all, but are just offering the more scholarly-type stuff on the college side. Perhaps they are in the process of giving the seminary side a more pre-professional tone with D.Min.s and the like concentrated there.

I notice that Trinity now claims some sort of endorsement from Christ Church University College, Canterbury, England, as well as from the University of Liverpool. I can find no trace of this on the Christ Church College website.

Perhaps Christ Church University College isn't aware of it yet.
