    Hello All.

I am having a tough time in preparing a Rank order List (RoL) for these four online business schools for a MBA. I have got an acceptance from all four.

I am an engineer from Illinois and need some guidance as to what MBA concentration I should be focussing on, and most importantly, which of the following schools I should attend ? Here are the names, available concentrations and total cost of online MBA:

University of Nebraska , Lincoln (marketing, finance, international business, agriculture - $25k)

University of Massachusetts Amherst (no majors - $30k)

University of Massachusetts Lowell (management, accounting, finance - $24k)

University of Wisconsin Whitewater (Finance, HR, IT, International Business, Management, Marketing ,Project Management ,Supply Chain Management - $27k)

Please suggest your thoughts, and thanks in advance !!!

Go between UN-L and UMass-Amherst. The other two aren't inexpensive enough to compensate for the lack of name recognition. UMass is probably the more "prestigious" of the two, but Nebraska is close to you so it may have some regional appeal/biases in its favor. As far as what to study, depends on what you want to do post-degree, but I'd recommend general management or finance.

Thanks for the reply. I truly appreciate it ! Here is a curve ball that I've been facing. I plan to move oversees in the next 4-5 years and so is it really worth it to spend an extra $6K on Amherst vs. Lowell ? People over there really know nothing about MBA schools (except of course the big names) and this concerns me when I think about taking the Amherst route with an extra price tag of $6,000. I do like the website and web design of Amhers vs. Lowell , but as far as the online class setup is concerned, I think that portal is same for all the UMass - correct ?

There are a few UMass-Amherst grads on the board here. Hopefully one of them can provide some feedback. My opinion, I would spend the extra money, of course there have been those on this board that have accused me of being a "brand whore" so take my advice with a grain of salt.

And what, praytell, is a "brand whore"?

    According to Urban Dictionary:
Someone who buys and prominantly displays name brand products (or products that feature large corporate logos) under the belief that such loyalty to a label or corporation is a chachet and brings prestige to their otherwise lack of taste, regardless of the actual quality or value of the products.

Someone on the board, i don't remember who, called me a "brand whore" when I said I was considering the applied econ program at JHU.
