Does anyone have an experience receiving portfolio credit for office or secretarial skills?

Does anyone know of any accredited colleges or universities whose course catalogs have a lot of credit classes in those areas?

Central Washington University, for example, has credit classes in stuff like "Office Administration", "Records Management", etc. I am looking for more schools like that so I can maximize the possible number of portfolio credits.

    Thanks in advance!

    office skill portfolio search

Hello, I would start with the TESC portfolio descriptions and expand to colleges the are noted for business courses. Example- Pierce Junior College. I hope this helps. Have a good week. Hille

Be sure and read the article on portfolio assessment in our content section. There's a mention in there of how the article's author got 9 credits for "keyboarding" by challenging 3 different 3-credit courses (keyboarding I, II, III).

You're definitely on the right track, but make sure you speak with your advisor, because some community college courses would probably be considered vocational in nature, and those would likely not be eligible for portfolio credit, or if so, only at the lower level.

    Best of luck!

    Thanks

Thanks for all the advice, especially the references to specific schools.

I think I may have seen a book in the library the other day that was a directory of colleges listed by major? I am going to go back and look for it, if it is what I think it is, that could be another great resource for finding schools that offer credits in specific areas.

    Thanks again!

Hello, When you are checking the library look at the Blue Book of college courses and a book that is specific for vocational colleges. When I go this week I'll look for the title. They have some unusual listings, example 3 credit vending machine repair. Good luck with your hunt. Hille

    education departments

Teachers who are certified in the area of computer literacy must have skills with programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, and so on. Look in undergraduate education courses to see if there are courses that give credit for these skills.
