What GAAP accredited foreign institutions offer 100% non-residential
    Phd's in Education

using the "degree by research model"?

So, far I have found Potscherfrdom and UNISA (which seems to make residency a possibility)....

Or better yet...which ones are recommended for a 100% non-residential, GAAP accredited, PhD in Education by dissertation?

Most, it seems are somewhat residential and I can't make a trip for physical and financial reasons.

    Hi

Suggest you get on the site for South African Universities. I am still unable to access the Unizul site, but I am pretty sure the offer your degree. They are letting me (looks like anyway) do the ThD by distance only. Good luck.

    OK, try these:
    Edith Cowan University
    Flinders University
    Macquarie University
    University of Melbourne
    University of South Australia
    University of Southern Queensland
You'll notice these are all Australian schools. One thing this means is that you'll have a very difficult time getting them to state unequivocally that a doctoral degree can be earned 100% non-residentially. Rumor has it that it can, and has been done. Good luck,
    Jack

At this point, YEP..they are just too expensive for me and I don't think there are any regionally accredited, research only PhDs, in education entirely by distance education.

If you know of any, especially affordable ones..let me know...
    thanks!

The PhD at Touro University International, at least on the business side, is very research intensive. Although the classes may focus on specific topics, they emphasize the research process. When it comes time to begin the dissertation, I feel I will be ready.

Also, they offer graduate assistanships, this can reduce the amount of the tuition that you would have to pay. I would look into it.

I tried last week and this week and can't get the site for TUI to load up. The one for Touro college loads, but not the University

What about University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Looks like about 56 credits at about $204.00 per credit hour. They offer a PhD in Education and DEd, both with what appears to be "flexible" residency requirements. I am assuming by the wording, that this may be "limited" residency if you can work it out with the Department.

    http://plaza.unl.edu/distributed.nsf/pages/doctoral

"University residency requirements of 27 hours in 18 months (or 24 hours in 24 months if employed in the major field) may be met by persistent and regular participation in the distance/distributed coursework. In addition, it is very strongly recommended that each student have an On-Campus Experience. Students doing this usually spend 3, 5, 8, 10, or 13 weeks on campus for one or more summer sessions. The program is flexible regarding the arrangements for the On-Campus Experience and works with each student to meet his/her own personal, professional, and academic needs. A tentative three year schedule of Lotus Notes courses is shown at other places in this web site."

Depending on your use of the degree, I did find another PhD in Education, but it is not RA (it is a candidate, though).

Northcentral University offers two PhD's one in Business Admin. and the other in Psychology. No residency requirements, 96 credits and costs only $165 per credit hour ($15,840)

    PhD Business

    PhD in Psychology

    Just another alternative.
