Has anyone on the forum sat for the CFA? I'm sitting for the first exam in June. I've been studying 2-3 hours every week night and 1-2 hours each weekend day since January, roughly 15-17 hours each week. I was told most people who pass the 1st exam have a minimum of 400 study hours. By my math I'm going to come up with roughly 350 study hours before the test if I continue at this pace. I have three friends who have taken the exam. One passed all three sections on his first attempts with no trouble, another passed the first section but failed the second, and the third bombed the first exam. My company paid upfront, but if I don't pass I have to pay them back. Just looking for some insight.
I just finished level 3 last June. My guess is you've studied enough and should pass. I found that the part most people have trouble with is the accounting and there is no easy tricks to use. You have to know it well. Same with level 2. Too many points in accounting to ignore. Hope that helps
I'm pretty comfortable with accounting, but I'll focus there a bit more. Am I right to understand the first exam also focuses a lot on regulations and compliance? Also, I thought the 2nd and 3rd exams were only offered in December but you mentioned sitting for the 3rd in June. If I take the 1st this June and the 2nd in December, is there enough time from December to June to prepare adequately for the 3rd exam? My plan was to take the first in June, second in December and the 3rd the following December.
All the exams have ethics questions and some compliance. I think only Level 1 is offered June and December. 2 and 3 are offered only in June, so failing level 2 or 3 requires a 1 year wait. Hope that's helps. Feel free to ask any other questions
