Could this signal an expansion of DL offerings at HES? CSU distance-learning provost headed to Harvard | Today's News | Northern Colorado Business Report
It doesn't necessarily signal any change of direction. The Harvard community was apparently quite comfortable with the previous Dean of HES -- because he held that position continuously for the past 38 years (since 1975). Harvard is replacing the Dean because he announced his retirement last year (at the age of 78), not because of any apparent dissatisfaction with the direction of HES.
C'mon, I'm trying to be like all provocative and you're trying to be like all rational. Where's the fun in that?
To throw Kizmet a bone, the hiring by HES might not necessarily mean they have different plans than what they have been doing. But with a new person in the position he might shake it all up.... at least more so than someone that has been in the position for 38 years and is 78 years old.
I get it. As a professional moderator, you probably get paid more if you stimulate more discussion and more posts, right ? Harvard is not the kind of school that is known for "shaking it all up". Harvard is the kind of school that is very comfortable with things just the way they are.
I say we all kick in double our dues and triple her salary! Now, let's see, I know you can't divide by zero, but if you multiply zero by....
Chip has told me that my salary is all going straight into an account controlled by the Illuminatti and so when it's time for my retirement I'll be all set.:Eyecrazy:
Nope, that was before they hired this new guy. They are obviously heading in a new direction now. They haven't produced enough presidents, NBA players, or billionaires and are doing what they can to change that.
I looked this guy up on linked in and it appears he only has a Masters degree...did I miss something? I'm surprised they chose someone without a PhD...not that the Masters from MIT's Sloan is anything to sneeze at. I would, of course, say that his work at CSU global certainly seems like a great experience for the HES position. Maybe that put him over the top? What would be the typical education for a College Dean?
My impression is that college/university Deans typically have doctoral degrees, but this is not strictly required, especially in fields or schools where the doctorate is uncommon or not offered. To my knowledge, Harvard Extension School does not have doctoral degree programs. At Yale, the Dean of the School of Art has an M.F.A., and the Dean of the School of Architecture has an M.Arch., but neither have doctorates. The master's is the usual terminal degree in both of these fields.
When you chat with Chip please let him know that the quarterly statements from the Illuminatti have stopped and so I might need to turn to the Bilderberg Group for assistance (and you know how difficult they can be).
