I want to obtain a Masters, and some have responded with the MAIS info, which has been very helpful, but I do want to complete a degree more quickly and for lower cost that the MAIS provides, if you want to take more credit hours.

The MA English provided by NAU is via distance learning, and the cost is less than the other state universities. The GRE is not required and the credential is valid for applying to Ph.D. programs.

I will truly miss classroom attendance, the give and take - I know I may be alone here, but I do learn from classroom experience.

Financial aid sounds so great, but if you want to apply, it is virtually impossible to receive grant monies - scholarships - etc., if you are returning to school at an older age.

"How can that be?" you might ask.

My 82-year old mother said I should claim age discrimination and try to get a decision for fairness in financial aid for school.

Whatever, thanks for hearing my whine. I feel better, I think.
