Here's a great primer for those new to distance-learning and are considering taking their first online course(s)...

What makes a successful online student

It discusses the need for self-discipline, practical use of time (time management), necessary writings skills, contact and communication, and suggestions on how to succeed.

Here's another article from the Washington Post entitled, "Is Distance Education for You? "

    It provides a basic outline:

    - Is distance-learning right for you?
    - What is distance-learning?
    - Accreditation
    - Selecting a School

again, a basic primer, but worth reading if you are new to distance-learning.
